One Hat Day

[01.14.2013] Woke up in the warm embrace of my husband in the cold Tagaytay weather where we spent out first year anniversary for a quick relaxing escape from the city. I couldn't believe how fast time really flies when you're really having fun. It feels just like yesterday when we said our I DOs and when everything was at slow-mo because we were trying the revel in every second of our wedding day.

Tagaytay wasn't really our first choice to celebrate our first anniversary at, but it's the best second, I have to say. It's sort of going back to where year one started when we were still boyfriend-girlfriend. A secret garden a lot of people go to for a green feast that's out of the ordinary- Sonya's Garden.

#instagram

Like our plans that always seem to change, this wasn't my first outfit choice for the occasion but when my sis handed me her partial and late Christmas gift, a dress from Tomato, I fell in love with it so much that I had to wear it for the special affair. The hat I also borrowed from her was also perfect for a complete simple garden-theme number. Everything just looks relaxed, young and fresh, don't you agree?

To add to the freshness of this outfit is this pretty gift I got from my hubby - a charm watch bracelet from Anne Klein, which stands as my temporary substitute for Pandora till we can actually afford one. *haha* Kudos to my sweet hubby for getting me this. Isn't it sOooo me? *lol* And what did he get in return, you ask? I hate to admit that I settled for a very very very practical gift because I couldn't afford all the things I originally wanted to give him at the moment - a grooming kit! *lol* I know, MAJOR FAIL for a first year anniversary gift but at least it's something that he will really use... right?!?!? *haha*major fail*sigh*

Well, anyway, I owe him. Good thing there will be other more occasions I can make bawi

Africa

Three days ago, I was severely suffering a fashion dilemma on what to where to my last event for the Sexy Saves Boracay camapaign- the Axe Anarchy Island Bikini Auction Party last November 27, oooooh what a craaaazy night it was... but I'll get to that later. *wink*

I was on the verge of giving up and make it one of my "it's just one night" moments to jump into just anything I have in my worn-out closet. If only I'm still living with my family, I would have just easily stolen a dress from my lil sister's closet (old or new), which she hate sometimes because she's so petite that I SOMETIMES (emphasis on the sometimes) return her clothes in a stretched figure. hahaha...

Anyway, over a quick lunch, I realized... If all else fails, Makati office tiangges will always save the day! Lucky for me it's Christmas season so bazaars are just everywhere in Makati.

I spotted this peplum aztec printed dress at a small nook of a bazaar in PBCom Tower and since the dress code was supposed to be a lil beach-y (think prints, earth tones & flowy chiffon), and you know I love earth colors, I thought it's just perfect. With my animal printed strappy wedge to match, I assembled an African-inspired ensemble that's club-appropriate. Now, apologies for the smoky and kinda blurry photos. These are shots after the party so my husband and I are both tired and smoky-eyed already, and probably my camera too.

I just love how my accessories matched. Specially this white and gold elephant bangle I borrowed from my sister. It just made my whole outfit more in sync. Don't you think?

Peplum Dress: Beau Monde shop (Rack Price PhP230)
Slim Garter Belt: The Landmark (PhP109.75)

Mailroom

One of the hardest challenges for fashion bloggers, I guess aside from thinking what to wear everyday, is finding a good location to do outfit shoots. Trust me, the background counts because photography is an art; a composition of a subject, vantage and landscape.

Anyway, running out of spots to shoot at our condo building, I found myself affixed to this wall of mailboxes, and then I thought, why not?! If cement bricks work for others, why not mailboxes for me, right?

I was on my way to supervise another shoot for Axe and I wanted to look and feel light and comfortable because it's going to be another whole day of video/photo shoot so, I resorted to light pastel colors and comfy-cotton fabrics.

I just love this pastel peach 3/4 cotton top from Forever 21, which I bought on SALE of course, because it clings to the body just right and the lace adds a feminine touch to it. The minis that I'm wearing is also one of my favorites because it hugs my hips perfectly, don't you think?

My feet were still aching from walking all day in high heels the previous day so for extra comfort, I wore my trusty, old Aerosoles wedge, which made my feet smile the whole day yesterday.

As always, I kept my accessories simple for that casual- comfort effect.

And my best accessory? My new hair of course! Just pair it with a big smile and voila...

Sunset

While I melt in the sun at the Axe Anarchy Island Car Wash, I just couldn't pass the opportunity of a sunset background for an outfit shoot. And because I predicted that it's going to be a hot and sunny (and sweaty) event last Saturday, I knew exactly what to wear: #1 shorts #2 breezy-comfortable blouse #3 flats #4 sling bag #sunnies. One thing I forgot though... sunblock!

Literally melting...

Black & Brown

As I've shared with you yesterday, I went to a free workshop sponsored and organized by Schu, Bling Duck & Myth at the Schu Outlet Store in Ortigas where they invited speakers from the Mega Publishing Group. Well, more of that later...

It was actually a last minute decision for me to attend the workshop because I had other plans yesterday, but since the original plan didn't push through, I quickly grabbed my phone to ask my cousin if there's still a slot left for me and voila! With literally an hour in my hands, I had to quickly think what to wear because we are talking about meeting people from Mega here... Come on, MEGA- just the best Fashion Magazine in town?!?! Pressure, right?

Because it was really last minute, I had to *woooooozaaaaa* myself and not over think what to wear and just stick to my personal style which is predominantly Classic. So, I donned a minimalist Black & Brown ensemble.

I just love using Pixlr-o-matic App for iPhone. It really adds drama to my photos. Nice effects, don't you think?

Top: Blanc Noir (Sale at est. P349)
*borrowed from my Sister*
Black Lace-y Shorts: Red Head (Sale at P150)
To accentuate the lace see-through detail on my back, I pulled my hair into a high bun and just wore stud earrings to keep the minimalist look.

Bag: Forever 21 (Sale at 70% off P661)
Ring: For Reselling Soon (Est. SRP P100)
Bangles: For Reselling Soon (Est. SRP P150)
Tribal Wedge: Syrup from People Are People
(Sale at P699)
This was actually a nice jump shot but the face didn't translate "model" while the body angle is great so, I decided to crop the photo instead to just highlight the shoes that I'm wearing.

Now, I'm just playing around here.

Special thanks to my sister, Mars Soller, for taking
my photos even if she's being attacked my flies
in our backyard. Much LOVE- Ate.

Emo Effect

You know those days when you just want to wear black and be a bit emo for no particular reason? Well, I had one of those days today. I wasn't in the mood to really play with colors so I kept it safe with an all black comfy-casual Friday ensemble.

Also, to add to the emo effect, I edited my photos as such.

Bat Wing Sheer Top: Pasalubong from Bangkok (est. P300)
Jeans: Forever 21 (SGD19 or approx. P630)
Black Pumps: Charles & Keith (P1,999)
With my alter ego creeping in, I just had to put a
pop of color with a humongous fish cocktail ring
matched with a stack of bangles.
Ring: Welmanson, Quiapo (est. P90)

Sparrow: An attempt in Fashion Blogging

I don't really consider myself as a fashionista- though I try...- but I do LOVE Fashion.

I took short courses on Basic Fashion Design, Pattern making and Sewing three years ago at the Fashion Institute of the Philippines. I was not able to complete the whole program, specifically pattern making and sewing,  but I do have plans of going back within the year and hopefully graduate by 2013. *cross-fingers*

When it comes to shopping, one thing about me is that I'm a very koripot shopper. I will only spend for items that I can really really use, max out its existence till the point of its retirement, and my fave price tags are the ones below P500.

With my shopaholic radar, I have spider sense on upcoming Sales, where the Clearance Outlets are, Bazaars and Ukay-Ukays too! Hopefully, I can share with you more about those in my succeeding posts.

So, enough with the chatter, here's my first post in creating my look collection for the Clueless Mrs.
