Emo Effect

You know those days when you just want to wear black and be a bit emo for no particular reason? Well, I had one of those days today. I wasn't in the mood to really play with colors so I kept it safe with an all black comfy-casual Friday ensemble.

Also, to add to the emo effect, I edited my photos as such.

Bat Wing Sheer Top: Pasalubong from Bangkok (est. P300)
Jeans: Forever 21 (SGD19 or approx. P630)
Black Pumps: Charles & Keith (P1,999)
With my alter ego creeping in, I just had to put a
pop of color with a humongous fish cocktail ring
matched with a stack of bangles.
Ring: Welmanson, Quiapo (est. P90)

Date Night at Johnny Chow

One way to spice up your marriage is to have dinner dates once in while and try restaurants and cuisines you both haven't tried yet.

That is why one of my wifely duties is to find sweet resto deals so we can save up for date nights. Trying new restos while saving up to 60% off on F&B is simply getting the best of both worlds so, I usually go to Group Buying Sites for deals.

Come to think of it, I have spent $$$ on deal sites but I'll save that for another post.

As I was doing my usual morning routine- surfing my favorite deal sites to see if there's something that will catch my eye- I bumped into this deal on CashCashPinoy.

P300 for P500 worth of food and drinks at Johnny Chow.

We've walked passed Johnny Chow several times before at the Newport Mall, Resorts World Manila but we haven't tried this restaurant yet so, I thought this was a good opportunity to try it out and so I bought two vouchers for P600! That gives us P400 savings to get a value of P1,000 worth of F&B. Not bad at all... Don't you think?

Johnny Chow is actually from the team behind John and Yoko, Sumo Sam and Mr. Kurosawa so, I bet the food would be great. They serve a fusion of flavors from contemporary Thai, Korean and Chinese cuisine. Just thinking about it makes me drool.

With P1,000 worth on hand, we tried to maximize our deal by ordering the following:

The Joy Luck Club P250
Honey BBQ Pork Roti & Asian Slaw
Just the word "ROTI" sold this dish to me coz I love Roti Pratha, which is an Indian dish (weird that they have this on the menu. I guess the Asian Slaw made it Chinese? haha... I don't know). A little oily for me but yummy enough for appetizer. Preferably shared among three people. Umay just for two.

Yang Chow Rice (with BBQ Pork) P295
We got deceived by "with BBQ Pork" because we thought it'll be another ulam for us on top of our Yang Chow Rice but *tanan!* two cute slices of Pork Asado. Taste? Average.

Emperor Wenzong P330
(Crispy Asian Chicken with Barbecue Sauce
served with Lychee Cucumber Salad)
I wanted something else but the husband wanted Chicken so we ordered this. It is Good but Max's Chicken is better.

2 Bottomless Red Citrus Iced Tea P108 ea.
and FREE spicy peanuts for appetizer
Because I wanted to try their drinks too we ordered their Red Citrus Iced Tea. First sip was good, it tasted like Flower in the middle but in the end, I liked it.

 Johnny Chow's artsy interiors.

Overall Experience? Ok. Would I come back? Maybe.

Quick 'N Easy Cooking- A teaser to Kitchen Diaries Ep. 2

Have you guys seen this new TV commercial from Del Monte?

Wow, this is very timely because I'll be using a Del Monte Quick 'N Easy Mix for my next episode of the Kitchen Diaries. (Arggh... the secret is out)

Mika Lagdameo- Martinez is just the perfect endorser for this because she's also a young homemaker like me. I just don't get why they had to use a different VO (voice over).

Anyway, while searching for the Del Monte Quick 'N Easy commercial on YouTube (umh, attention to the agency, the video is not very searchable. Please fix your titles and add more tags!), I came across this:

I think it is very smart of Del Monte to come up with something like this because most newbie wives are really clueless in the kitchen (thank God for canned goods).

They have a website www.dmquickneasy.com that features various Quick 'N Easy recipes with a step-by-step cooking guide via the Cooking Wiki. They even made a whole soundtrack to keep us company while cooking. Admit it, all girls LOVE to dance at any time of the day, even while in the kitchen. And to make it even more convenient for us, they're also developing an iPhone App, which is coming very soon. Now, I can't wait to try this.

If you want to know more, Like Del Monte's Facebook Fanpage or follow them on Twitter.
You may also watch out for more Quick 'N Easy videos on YouTube.

In this episode, I reveal the recipe of our famous "Oriental Beef Stew" loved by my former officemates and friends.

Doing this episode was not a joke. I had to do all the cooking sabay shooting on my own so, forgive me if the energy die down at the latter part of the video.

Hope this helps newbie housewives out there like me and for others, hope this video just entertains...

115ml Lee Kum Kee Sesame Oil P114.50

China Doll

Overwhelmed by the COTTON ON news, I just had to wear something from Cotton On today. So, with China Doll look as peg, I wore my pale orange chiffon button-down dress from Cotton On paired with a black midi skirt. (Half of the dress is just hidden under the skirt)
Top/ Dress: COTTON ON Singapore (Sale at SGD10 or approx. P340)
Midi Skirt: Blanc Noir form SM Department Store (Sale at P350)
Black Peep-toed Pumps: Charles & Keith (P1,999)
I would have layered my necklace over a bigger chunk
to give my outfit more texture but I just don't have one yet
so, I just went for my usual minimal accessories.
To finish off my look, I pulled my hair into a bun.

Lips: Perfect Bare 09 lipstick from Elizabeth Arden
Eyes: Maybelline Cosmetics

IT IS ON! COTTON ON!

Couldn't think of a better title but all I want to say is... COTTON ON is finally in Manila and will open this September 7 at the SM Mall of Asia.

Just when you thought MOA cannot get any bigger with the deluge of International Brands setting up store at the SM Mall Of Asia, which I'm sure everybody L-O-V-E-Zzzz...  COTTON ON is now finally here too. (I know this invasion will cripple local retail again but who can ever resist this?)

My first encounter with a Cotton On store was about six years ago when we went to Sydney, Australia for my parents' silver wedding Anniversary. Our timing was just perfect coz it was winter time so, all of the summer clothes are on SALE! Now, if you think that since the standard of living in Australia is high, you cannot simply afford anything, you are wrong. Tip: visit during winter season! I promise, you can buy a cool top or two for just about (AUD3) approx. P120.

Cotton On was just one of the coolest brands I've ever bought a lot from. I love Cotton On because, same as Laureen Uy, I find their clothes not just fashionable but very comfortable as well. I swear every time I visit Singapore, Cotton On was definitely one of my stops at every mall.

One confession though, since I'm always on a budget, I usually just buy items that are on Sale. My fave Cotton On price tags? $5-10.

For COTTON ON's grand opening, I heard there's going to a be a fashion show on September 6. The event will be by invitation only but I think it won't hurt to try and get a peek during the show.

I heard they're also on the hunt for students and amateur models to strut Cotton On-style at the fashion show. So, if you guys are interested, here are the details:

a) All interested parties can do online submissions via Cotton On's Facebook fanpage or you can nominate your friends too. Everyone is welcome to join!

b) Cotton On is looking for new models/ students who are 18-24 years old who are FUN, YOUNG, HIP, HAPPY and BRIGHT… people who can best represent Cotton On.
c) Deadline for submission is on August 29, 2012. The selected people will be advised via Cotton On's Facebook fanpage and will be invited to the GRAND GO SEE on August 30, 2012 (that's a Thursday) starting 6pm onwards at the Suyen Corp/ Bench Head office in Pasay City. I will also be there to check out all the finalists. (Note: Suyen/ Cotton On team will communicate all these details directly to those models who passed initial screening).

Cougar Spice

I know I owe you guys for my week long silence.

So, here's a mash up blog about one of my fave bargain boutique and our office "Spice Girls" #THEREUNION pictorial.

You might be familiar with one of the hippest stores I LOVE- People Are People (PRP).
Newly renovated PRP store located at G/L Glorietta 4.
It's just infront of the escalators.
You must be blind if you miss it.
Why do I love this store? Because it's young, cool, hip & trendy. Every rack is jam-packed with trendy finds and shelve after shelve presents awesome range of shoesies from sandals, ballet flats, wedges to towering high heels. So, if you're in a crunch time to shop for a dress to wear to tomorrow night's gimmick, this is the place to shop.

However, if you're into super bargain stuff or you're just in a tight budget, there's also a hidden outlet store located at Glorietta 2.

People are People Outlet Store
located at 2/L Glorietta 2
Shirts, tops, jeans almost all at 50% off.
Price ranges from P199 to P1,499 & above.

Sandals, flats, wedges & high heels from P299 & above.
Accessories from P199 & above.
Bought this black peep-toe wedge for a bargain price of only P699. Perfect for my supposed "Scary Spice" outfit since- lazy me in the morning- accidentally forgot to bring heels and just wore flats to the office.
Bought 50% off at P699
Now, I'm ready for my close up!
The NOT SO "Scary Spice"
a.k.a "Cougar Spice"

Dark Shades

Among my blog posts, my fashion blog attempt: Sparrow has received the highest page views so far. So, I guess people are interested in what I'm wearing (???)--- which adds to the pressure of "What to wear next?!!!?"

Last 08.15.12, I attended the special screening of The Expendables 2 sponsored by LBC at the Powerplant Mall, Rockwell.

Since I'll be coming from the office and I wanted to wear something comfy and a lil more formal than my usual get-up, I decided to wear a dress, stick to darker shades and wear minimal accessories.

Dress: Tango (Bought 50% off at P799)
Belt: Forever 21 (came free with another dress I bought at 50% off)
Knitted Sweater: from the Landmark (P450)

Sparrow: An attempt in Fashion Blogging

I don't really consider myself as a fashionista- though I try...- but I do LOVE Fashion.

I took short courses on Basic Fashion Design, Pattern making and Sewing three years ago at the Fashion Institute of the Philippines. I was not able to complete the whole program, specifically pattern making and sewing,  but I do have plans of going back within the year and hopefully graduate by 2013. *cross-fingers*

When it comes to shopping, one thing about me is that I'm a very koripot shopper. I will only spend for items that I can really really use, max out its existence till the point of its retirement, and my fave price tags are the ones below P500.

With my shopaholic radar, I have spider sense on upcoming Sales, where the Clearance Outlets are, Bazaars and Ukay-Ukays too! Hopefully, I can share with you more about those in my succeeding posts.

So, enough with the chatter, here's my first post in creating my look collection for the Clueless Mrs.

The Domino Effect

It left the pizza radar and now it's back and Domino's pizza just got stronger, crispier and yummier!

Being bombarded with lamp post banners with their Buy 1 Free 1 promo before, we just had to give in and try it out. With no expectations, our first bite gave our taste buds a savory surprise as flavors of meat, veggies and mozzarella cheese melted in our mouths. The ultra crispy thin crust was also heavenly, I swear I grunted "I JUST CAN'T STOP!" (with gigil + kagat labi) several times. And seriously, sharing two 10" pizza with only one person isn't a joke, you'll feel bloated afterwards but it's carbs worth gaining pounds for.

Craving hit us this evening so, we went straight to the nearest Domino's branch and when we got to Domino's, we found out they now have a D-card for only P250, which entitles you Buy1 Free1 pizza for 365days plus earn reward points too! How cool is that? So, of course being the pizza monsters that we are, we purchased one.

Enjoy the Domino effect with Extravaganza and Meatzza 10" Thin Crust Pizzas!

D-Card (P250) plus a free 1.5 Coke

One Destination. Jamie + Jill's Boracay Wedding

This actually happened before Clueless Mrs. ever existed but I thought this is something worth sharing.

2.12.12 One Destination. This is the, may I say, title(?) of dear friends, Jamie + Jill's Boracay wedding.

True to every cell of the couple's body, both being in the Advertising industry, the whole wedding was like a TV production. I bet Jill- a creative genius and illustrator plus many more /// - even illustrated a whole storyboard to bring their love story to life that guests can relate more to. I also bet that Jamie, being a frustrated actress, brainstormed for hours or probably days to come up with explosive grand entrances and production numbers. See some photos and videos below.

The last time I was in Boracay was in May 2010 with the same set of friends, my Sisterbucks- Jamie (the Bride), Joanne and Dos.

Since I was also busy with my wedding preps just a month prior to Jamie's wedding, I wasn't able to plan our quick Boracay trip for her wedding so we ended up making a last-minute booking at Microtel Boracay through Agoda.com, which I thought would be very near the venue, Estacio Uno. *Tip: Don't EVER trust the maps in Agoda.com! So not reliable! Always double check with Google.maps.

The hotel is actually pretty decent but don't be deceived by "conveniently located in Station 1" because it is NOT! They do provide free shuttle to and from D' Mall but if you want "convenience" true to every letter of the word, I suggest booking in other places instead within Station 2 which is the very center of Boracay party hub. Oh well, here are the photos...

Microtel Boracay is located in Station 1 (Extension) after crossing this Grotto
which is 15-30 minutes walk from Station 2 or D'Mall

Behind me is where the real Station 1 is.

To relieve our feet for a minute, photo-opps nalang muna!

My hubby always criticize my jump shots.
I know I don't jump that high. *sigh*

My jump shot and his interpretation of my jump shot.

His jump shot and my interpretation of his jump shot. Not bad right?

Of course, a trip to Boracay wouldn't be complete
without some food trippin'.

Minutes before the wedding. Me, wearing my 7-in-1 dress.
A so-worth-it investment. About P1,800 from the Ramp.

My instagram photos capturing Jamie + Jill's wedding details

Do you see the lovely Bride's GRAND ENTRANCE? @Jamie, IKAW NA!

Photobooth Boracay-style!

The Grand Finale.

To the couple, congratulations and welcome to the blissful life of being married.

Check out Jill's romantic proposal right in time for Jamie's birthday.

And finally, the wedding video.
