Time Capsule

Five days ago, I received a letter.

A letter that I have been waiting for for such a long time that I thought has already been left forgotten.

It was a letter that our college professor made us write nine years ago as a requirement in Marriage and Family Life, a subject which consumes 3 out of 21 units of Theology requirement in Assumption College. I know... we have that many units in Theology...

Anyway, she made us write a letter to our future selves, which she promised to send us five years after graduation to remind us of who we were five years ago. I never forgot about this letter... And after not getting it over five years as she promised, I thought, oh well, it was probably just a joke.

Cut to November 26, 2012, when I visited my home, I saw in our mail tray a familiar handwriting addressed to myself. I could swear I held my breath for a minute because I was really shocked. Questions spinning in my head were - Is this it? Why just now? After seven years?  So, with shaking hands and sweaty palms, I opened the envelope. Then there it was... two sheets of paper teared from a large-sized Blue Feather notebook with a handwriting of a person I once knew.

I immediately stopped myself from reading the contents right then and there because I wanted to share that moment with my husband because I remember vividly that I wrote something about him there. After two long nights, I finally got the chance to sit quietly beside him and told him about the letter, then I began reading...

OH MY GOD, this letter is truly heaven sent. I was almost in tears as I was reading the words from my past self. My professor couldn't have picked a better time, though two years late, to send me this letter. A LOT were #PatamaLines of what I am going through right now. I'm also sOooo amazed with how I write. Like, not bad... *with a self-satisfied smirk*

Here's the content of the letter and highlighted are my favorite parts.

October 5, 2003

To my Future Self,

Hi! I hope you still remember the exact moment you were writing this letter. You were wearing a pink Giordano shirt, pink rose earrings & denim shorts, sitting in front of a mirror. I'm writing you this letter because I want to remind you how you were five (5) years before and how you have grown to be the person I've always wanted to be. You're the kind of girl who always aim high and do whatever it takes to reach your dreams even how arduous they are. You are not afraid to take risks because as an economist, you believe in the saying, "Higher Risks, Higher Profits." You've always believed in yourself and believe that anything is possible as long as you put your mind on it. You take stress as challenges, mistakes as something to learn from, and failures as a motivation to even try harder. You're the kind of person who your friends look up to, that is why you want/ need to handle stress well because if you breakdown, everything else around you will breakdown as well, which you cannot afford to happen so you tend to keep yourself together as long as you can. Remember, though, that YOU'RE ONLY HUMAN! You know how to get tired & you have limits also. Never get deceived of your wonderful dreams that makes you live in the future most of the time, instead of living in the present, ceasing every moment and living life to the fullest as if its the last. It's nice dreaming what the future will still bring you but never forget that little girl inside you who just wants to play & enjoy life sometimes while she still can. Face your future one day at a time.

As you enjoy your life like I've always dreamed of, also remember who helped and supported you all the way - your Family. Remember how you've always cuddled in your dada's arms? How you hug your mimay so tight, telling her how much you love her? Your bonding moments with your sister, sharing secrets with each other? You could never have enough arguments with your brother but never get tired of understanding & loving him just the same.

Remember your friends? Tina, Denise, Portia, your High School friends, Aissa & your best friend, Diane? Try to check them out sometimes & see if you could have a get together.

So, did you and JM made it to the altar? I hope so, because right at this very moment, I can truly say that I love him! I love the way he tries to see me at least once a week, the way he surprises me with lil' gifts (I hope you still have the angel he gave me), the way his eyes shimmer when he stares at you looking amazed with your beauty, the way he just listens to your pathetic problems & yet give you the best advice, the way he understands when you keep on vacillating when it comes to making decisions, the way he waited for you, the way his eyes glitter & his smile reaches his ears when he's opening a gift you just gave him, the way he loves you just the way you are. And now, also remember how you learned to love & accept him just the way he is, with all his flaw & imperfections. I really hope you're together right now, lying in your wonderful dream bed, having 3-4 amazing kids, living in your dream house you've always wanted. Funny isn't it? Thinking that it was just like yesterday that you were just trying to get through College.

I hope you were able to reach all your dreams, your dream of going to Australia & work there for a while to save money & buy yourself your own house & your own car, flower farm/ shop for your mom, clothing factory with your own clothing line, a successful model & a photographer, travel the whole world, & being married to the most wonderful man in my life (next to my dad, of course) Mr. Jan Michael I. Garcia, & have a family of your own.

But if not, don't stop yourself from dreaming & keep on believing. You'll never know what really God has in store for you, maybe not now, but in the future yet to come.

Love,
Your Past Self "Z"

"How could I know who I am, if I don't know who I was?" - Jack Frost

Are you blown away as I am?

First of all, thank goodness I did marry JM or it would have been awkward to read this with a different husband. LOL. Anyway, a lot of you may not know me that well but working for seven years now, I can say that I truly am a stress junkie - I just love the adrenaline-rush when I am loaded with too much to do and being in control of everything, which is now taking a toll on my health. I am also a control freak and a forward-thinker. Like, I always have a friggin' three-year life plan!  Talk about controlling the future, right? Remember how the Clueless Mrs. started in the first place? This letter really opened my eyes and my heart in so many ways, I can't explain how, but it gave me some sort of direction on what I want to do next.

I may not have achieved all my dreams yet and I can't tell you about how the story of the Clueless Mrs. will evolve but I will get there soon and it's going to be exciting. You just wait and see...

To Ms. Cantada, my kind professor in Marriage and Family Life.
If you get to read this post, I want to apologize for taking your subject for granted before.
I was young and stupid and sorry if there's any chance I disrespected you in some way.
I did learn a LOT from you and thank you for sending me back this letter.

Africa

Three days ago, I was severely suffering a fashion dilemma on what to where to my last event for the Sexy Saves Boracay camapaign- the Axe Anarchy Island Bikini Auction Party last November 27, oooooh what a craaaazy night it was... but I'll get to that later. *wink*

I was on the verge of giving up and make it one of my "it's just one night" moments to jump into just anything I have in my worn-out closet. If only I'm still living with my family, I would have just easily stolen a dress from my lil sister's closet (old or new), which she hate sometimes because she's so petite that I SOMETIMES (emphasis on the sometimes) return her clothes in a stretched figure. hahaha...

Anyway, over a quick lunch, I realized... If all else fails, Makati office tiangges will always save the day! Lucky for me it's Christmas season so bazaars are just everywhere in Makati.

I spotted this peplum aztec printed dress at a small nook of a bazaar in PBCom Tower and since the dress code was supposed to be a lil beach-y (think prints, earth tones & flowy chiffon), and you know I love earth colors, I thought it's just perfect. With my animal printed strappy wedge to match, I assembled an African-inspired ensemble that's club-appropriate. Now, apologies for the smoky and kinda blurry photos. These are shots after the party so my husband and I are both tired and smoky-eyed already, and probably my camera too.

I just love how my accessories matched. Specially this white and gold elephant bangle I borrowed from my sister. It just made my whole outfit more in sync. Don't you think?

Peplum Dress: Beau Monde shop (Rack Price PhP230)
Slim Garter Belt: The Landmark (PhP109.75)
Animal Printed Wedge: Syrup (Sale @ P699)

Country Vibe

Am I too obsessed with myself to post two outfit shoots in one day?

Probably... but I'm just soooo in LOVE with this photo app for me not to share the very nice outcome of my photos after using it.

I wasn't really in the mood to do an outfit shoot last Saturday because I'm usually super down-casual when going to the mall, specially if the intended itinerary is to really go shopping. Nevertheless, it all started with borrowing my husband polo. This is one of my favorites that I borrow (sneakily) from my husband's part of the closet. I don't know if he's just "slim(?)" for his built or did I really just gain weight because it just miraculously fits us both really well... ala Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

After 20 minutes of experimenting with my hair, with extra time to spare while hubby gets dressed, a country look was created for an instant outfit shoot.

This look would have been more country-er, if only I could find my brown leather boots but I might have left it at my parents' house, so I opted for my white espadrille wedge instead that still matches my "country" look.

Men's Polo: Terranova Men (Sale @ P650)
Denim Shorts: True Love, SM Department Store (P399)
White Espadrille Wedge: Call it Spring (Sale @ P1,600)

Can you see my husband's reflection on my sunnies? haha...

Sunnies: People are People (P499)

If you've actually seen me at the mall last Saturday though, I was really just wearing my comfy Sanuk.

Classic X Neon

When it comes to fashion, my personality really dwells more on the classic side. I love keeping it simple, "less is more" is what I live by... My closet is 75% black & nudes, so I can experiment and transform my clothes in more ways that people won't be able to tell that I'm just wearing the same thing.  Well, to be honest, it's also because I have really limited clothes since I got married coz I have a much smaller closet now, which I also share with my husband. To keep the trendy vibe though, I combine my classic outfits with playful yet still simple accessories to match, like what I've worn here.

This skirt is really one of my favorites that I frequently wear. Originally a midi (first worn here) I stitched up the front hem of the skirt up to the waistband to make it look like a bubble high-low skirt (next worn here). This is one of my styling tricks I am proud to share.

B/W Aztec Top: Cotton On, Singapore (Sale at S$10, or P330)
Yellow Slim Garter Belt: The Landmark (P120)
(Transformed) Midi Skirt: Blanc et Noir (Sale at P349)

Wearing ultra-colorful things is in fact a lil out of my comfort zone but I really like these simple neon accents that gave my outfit a spirit of youth.

Neon Bangles: For Reselling Soon (Est. SRP P180)
Black Wedge: Sole Desire from People are People (Sale @ P699)

More often than not, I also dress up according to what I will do for the day. So, since I had to run around the whole day at work last Friday to rush a lot of things for our coming event this week, I also brought my reliable black flats, just in case.

Look Good, Feel Good, and Do Good with bobble

For the very first time in my blogging career, I have officially been invited (not inviting myself, take note) to a product launch of a new innovative brand - BOBBLE -  introduced to the Philippines by Terry S.A., the same company that brought in lifestyle giants such as Havaianas, David & Goliath, Dupe, Aura Athletica and Pininho.

Can you imagine my delight when I got the invite? *smiling up to my ears with very eager eyes* So, did I go? Umh, duh? I wouldn't miss this for the world!!! Though I feel there's an added pressure because I came from brand marketing as well and I know the expectations and whatnots behind the brand curtain, this is just an opportunity that I would never say no to and it is actually fun to finally be acknowledged as a blogger. *pat on the back*

Make Water Better. This is bobble's promise. And, what can you get out of it? Well, you'll definitely Look Good, Feel Good, while Doing Good.
The launch of this product didn't come in a more perfect time because I was really looking for a water bottle as I am eyeing a month of transformation by ditching the bad stuff and live a healthier lifestyle- a 2013 resolution I intend to keep- starting by just drinking water. Oh yes, that is the new diet plan and bobble is THE answer

Did you know that drinking clean water daily helps flush out harmful toxins and help protect the body from illnesses? It also maintains the body's pH balance, improves metabolism, and keeps essential organs such as the heart, liver and skin healthy... Wow, I'm so proud with this new knowledge. I feel so smart and healthy already! *lol*

bobble is a chic, reusable drinking bottle, designed by renowned industrial artist Karim Rashid- the man behind numerous luxury goods and popular product designs for Christofle, Alessi, Umbra, Bondaldo, Vondom, and Hugo Boss, among others. bobble's iconic shape and curvy form make it easier to carry arround during workout sessions or while out socializing. I do wish though that they also have a sling strap, so I can also carry my bobble around, hands-free. Now, wouldn't that be nice? *wink*

Watch this video to learn how bobble works:

My team "magenta" landed 2nd place *envious and bitter*
Brand Development Group Director, Mr. Ammiel De Leon,
talks about the benefits of bobble.
Fun fact about bobble? It's unique, replaceable and recyclable carbon filter purifies potable water even further by eliminating chlorine and organic contaminants for a fresher and crisper clean drinking water. Through the ingenuity of its design, the 1:300 ratio- one bobble is equivalent to 300 single-used plastic bottles- you can now be more active in protecting the environment by reducing the use of PET bottles, in a fab way.

What I like about bobble is that it's not just a wellness innovation but a bold fashion statement as well. I can already envision, by its vibrant colors, numerous ways of how I can match my outfits with bobble - Girly (Magenta), Sexy Vixen (Red), Country-Romantic (Yellow), Hippie (Green), Cool & Sleek (Blue) and Punk (Black). Now, if only I won the trivia game... hahaha... I am such a sore loser. #lol

bobble bottles are priced at P595.00 per 550-ml container and filters at P345.00 each and will be available starting December 1 at Aura Athletica, Power Plant Mall. Hmmm... I think I see a collection in the making...

Playing Mommy

I have recently accepted, though with a heavy heart, the fact that I have left the "yuppie" boat and went on board the "early nester" category, in marketing language, as my sister pointed out.

I do love the idea that I can also be a chameleon, in modeling language, that I can play a teen(ish) girl as I portrayed in my Garnier project here, side by side Georgina Wilson. And, a young mom as well, which I portrayed in my most recent project with Fiesta Spaghetti.

Though my frames are limited, can you spot me in this ad?

I love Fiesta Pasta's Pulang Ngiti commercial. Aside from the fact that the kids in this commercial are the cutest, and the most energetic I've ever seen kids be, Fiesta Spaghetti is really good too... And, with cooking Mrs. cap on, I find the "Spaghettipid" pack really value for money. Say, P69 for spaghetti pasta + sauce that can serve up to 10? Saan ka pa?! *LOL* sounds like a line from a commercial, but no, really, I've bought and cooked the Spaghettipid pack many times already and my hubby and I never get tired of it.

The pasta is just al dente and what I love about it is that even how many times I reheat the pasta, it doesn't get soggy at all. And the sauce? Swak na swak to the Filipino palette, especially for kids. It's on the sweet side so we put a lil hot sauce just to add a lil kick to our Filipino-style spaghetti.

Here are some behind the scenes photos while the kids and I are waiting for our next take...
Pasado bang mommy?

Epic Halloween in Boracay

This is another blog post long overdue but it's really better late than never I guess...

As I have shared in my previous post here, my husband and I spent our first halloween together in Boracay, which was sooooo much fun.

Since we were traveling on a budget, we booked at the most budget-friendly accommodations we could find in Station 1...
This is where we stayed...
I meant here...
A small passage way to our humble hotel...

Gran Prix Boracay Hideaway, found in Station 1 is conveniently located right beside Astoria Boracay. This humble hotel is pretty decent actually... Like, this Standard room only cost us P2,800 each for 3Days/ 2Nights already. Stark cheap for a beach-front accommodations in Station 1 already, right?

Where's W(k)ALD(b)O?

This is already our 3rd time to visit Boracay together and since we've tried most of the beach activities tourists can find in Boracay already, we only have one itinerary in mind for this trip... CLIFF JUMPING. And, we didn't waste time... As soon as we checked in and had ourselves full with (must-eat) Choriburger paired with (must-drink) Jonah's Fruit shakes, we scouted where we can book our trip to the popular cliff jumping spot - Ariel's Point, for our only full day in Boracay.

If you're up for the challenge, you may inquire at Ariel's Beach Club, right beside O-bama's Grill along Station 1, but if you're ready to dive in to this exhilarating, nerve-racking, and if I may add...bruise-generating experience, you may proceed to Boracay Beach Club right across the back of Ariel's Beach Club to book your trip.

The Trip Fee is only P1,500 which already includes your two-way boat trip to and from Ariel's Point, located on a separate near island, unlimited drinks, snacks, BBQ lunch, and of course, unlimited jumps that varies from 3 meters up to 15 meters high diving boards.

The assembly time at Ariel's Beach Club is at 11:30 am and the whole itinerary will keep you busy until 4:00pm in time to get back to Boracay shores by 5:00pm.

Ariel's Point
Brave enough to jump?
I was... and I might not do it again (or wouldn't I?)
@ 8 meters

If you're not into life-threatening experiences though, especially when it's undas (Philippines' ghost month) period, aside from cliff jumping you can also enjoy snorkeling, swimming, and kayaking, also included in the P1,500 trip fee you paid.

What's the sense of going to Boracay without partying, right? And they say Halloween parties in Boracay are the best! Look at me party with Jack at Epic Boracay's Saints & Sinners Halloween Ball.

When we said we partied in Epic Boracay
for Halloween, this is what really happened...
Where's the party at?!?
Midnight snacks at Army Navy #faker

Here's a photo/video montage of our Epic Halloween in Boracay. Enjoy!
